With the aging of the population, the issue of regional revitalization has been the focus of attention recently. The effective use of energy and wisdom, or even assets of the elderly is promising for regional activation. This presentation considers how to cope with this issue, based on the idea of knowledge creation systems, which has been developed in the open lecture called ‘systems theory for regional revitalization’. The main conclusion will be that the worth living of seniors might be related to contribution to the society, acting as knowledge coordinators.
